Have to disagree on Aho being called up before Hickey Ben. I thought he was pretty dismal in the pre season.

Also JHS is as advertised before his draft. He just doesn’t understand it’s not about JHS and he needs to learn that. All NHL GMs passed on him in the draft and they passed on him once again. I wonder who’s fault it is he wasn’t claimed?

Thanks for keeping the Isles blog going!

Can’t wait until Frida, Let’s go Islanders !

Thanks for reading as always!

Not necessarily saying Aho jumps over Hickey immediately (if there's an injury right now, Hickey's the guy) but if Hickey actually does play out his contract in New York (or even a full year or two), I'd guess that Aho probably starts getting some chances rather than Hickey.

Thanks for the write up Ben! Hopefully MDC and Dobson play well and help out the team. I'm glad MDC seems to be getting a shot in the top 6. Hope he makes the most of it.

Was is it about the Isle's...? Spurgeon, Nino and now Ho Sang... seems like they pick a random talented player and just decide give up on him way too soon... If given a real legit chance to succeed HS would be a legitimate top 6 forward imho.

Dobson should never put on another uniform other than that of an nhl Jersey. And maybe an all star jersey

Why? Because he’s played well in the pre season?

Well, at this point every NHL gm seems to disagree with you.

Sort of like a famous person who not that long ago was given an award before doing anything. There is hope for Dobson.

Sending down Hickey is completely illogical to me. Boychuck no longer fires his cannons and the same can be said of Leddy and they're still with the team??
Dobson is what 19 old? If he gets more than a 10 game look he'd a be a 6th or 4th because it's a waste to have him here otherwise.
Not sure how Dal Colle made the squad either.
The Brassard signing sems just as stupid as the Varlamov deal but less risky. It's a better option than Tanner Fritz

great write up Ben. I read the Hickey/Aho comment the way you meant it and agree 100%. I don't want to see Hickey play this year b/c it more than likely means we have at least 2 d-men injured, and if he doesn't play it's just a matter of time before some of the young guys surpass him on the Isles depth chart (Aho, Wilde, and even Hutton). On the upside he is making $2.5 mill a year to play hockey so I will not feel too bad for him.

Spurgeon was a 6th round pick.. the 156th pick in the draft. Somehow I don't think allowing him to go to another team after 155 other picks passed on him should be considered.. "we gave up way to early on him". He far exceeded what anyone thought he would become.. and congrats to him for it.

Nino everyone loves to bring up as if we allowed Gretzky to get away. The guy is a 20 goal a year 50 point player. You guys just traded him yourself b/c he never panned out into what you though he would be...

JHS will make the NHL roster if and when he gets it... for now he is a talented kid who will have a tough time making this roster. It will only get tougher as the years progress with Wahlstrom, Bellows, and Holstrom all trying to make the roster next year too.
